Windoc Hit By Allanburg Lift-Bridge!

I was sitting on my front porch at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday August 11, when I heard the fire siren sound off. It was nothing out of the ordinary for a Saturday night except that the siren would continue to go off another 3 times within the hour. I could sense that some kind of disaster was looming. My sister then came in and announced that the Allanburg lift-bridge had just hit a ship in the canal causing the ship to catch fire. The ship would continue to burn throughout the night and into the next day as firefighters from all over the Niagara Region valiantly tried to control it.
Although the fire caused millions of dollars of damage, luckily no one was hurt.
