Multi-Use Trail Continues To Grow!

The Welland Canals Trail continues to grow as Thorold's 2.5 km section officially opened September 15, 2001. The trail now stretches along the canal from Lakeshore road in St. Catharines to Chapel street in Thorold. You will find the rock wall along the multi-use trail awesome looking. Although the path is steep, the view of the canal is breathtaking as ships climb the escarpment with you. At the top of Chapel street, Thorold's new Chamber of Commerce building is a pleasure to visit. Inside you will find a treasure of pictures to look at from canal days gone by. The following picture is of the Thorold section multi-use trail with the new Chamber of Commerce building in the background. The next picture taken from the multi-use trail itself is of a ship passing through the canal and clearly illustrates the trail's great view.
